High standards of patient care

Since opening in June 1993, MetWest Surgical has enjoyed continuous accreditation via The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, most recently in May 2021.

Our day surgery centre provides quality eye surgery and care for the Western Metropolitan area, including Blacktown, Castle Hill and Parramatta.

Excellent surgical outcomes

All our surgeons and anaesthetists are fully qualified and credentialed, along with our nursing and admission staff.

The centre has a rigorous education program, with staff required to attend education sessions throughout the year to ensure the standard of care at the centre continues to remain of the highest quality.

Perioperative Nurses Week 2023

During the week of 12-18 November, MetWest Surgical celebrated Perioperative Nurses Week 2023. This is an annual celebration to recognise the great care provided by our perioperative nurses towards all patients that undergo surgical procedures.

The theme for this year’s celebrations was H.E.A.R.T.

H – Happiness
E – Empathy
A – Ask
R – Rest
T – Thank you

PresMed Australia and MetWest Surgical are proud of every single one of our nurses and we say ‘Thank you’ for all your kindness and caring.

MetWest Surgical has contracts with all the major health funds, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and has competitive rates for uninsured patients.

Prior to booking your surgery, staff will go through an informed financial consent, ensuring you have all the information necessary regarding costs. Staff at the centre will check whether you have an excess payable and inform you of this. You may also have out-of-pocket costs associated with the surgeon or anaesthetist that the staff will also discuss.

MetWest Surgical is a private hospital, so if you do not have private health insurance there will be out-of-pocket costs associated with your surgery. Prior to booking your surgery, staff will discuss these costs with you.

The average length of stay at the day surgery is 3-4 hours, however this can depend on the type of surgery that you are undergoing.

As you are undergoing a procedure in a day surgery centre, you must have someone drive you home. If you are having sedation for the procedure, we advise you not to drive or sign any legal documents for at least 24 hours.
