Celebrating Private Hospital's Week ON 19-23 May 2014

MetWest Surgical celebrated Private Hospital's Week with a morning tea. The theme of the week was "Choose what's best for you". 70% of eye procedures in Australia are performed in Private Hospitals, with MetWest Surgical contributing to this figure, as an accredited Ophthalmic Day Surgery in western Sydney- an area with some of the longest public waiting lists for elective eye surgery in the country.

Macular Degeneration Patient Seminar ON 6th April 2013

Answering questions like: What is MD? What pre-disposes me to getting MD? What is the difference between wet and dry macular degeneration? Should I eat butter or margarine? What else can I do to help prevent or slow the progress of MD?

 

Dr John Stokes, for Inservio, ran a seminar on Macular Degeneration for a group of interested patients.  With his interactive style, patients were able to ask questions and comment on the different treatments that they had received over the years.  Everyone who attended felt that they had learned valuable and practical information about Macular Degeneration.

Optometrist Eye Update - May 2013 ON 7th May 2013

This years Eye Update combined two very different sub-specialties - Retina and Oculo-plastics.

Dr Maloof started this year's education evening with "Face the Facts on Lid Procedures" - with many varied conditions discussed, giving tips on the warning signs for different type of skin cancers that need to be referred to an Ophthalmologist.

Dr Gorbatov continued with an update on Macular Degeneration, specifically Eye Surgery in Patients with Wet AMD - discussing the outcomes of cataract surgery as well as vitrectomy surgery for either epi-retinal membrane or macular degeneration.

 

 

 

Private Hospitals Week ON 12-18th May 2013

MetWest Eye Centre and MetWest Surgical will be celebrating Private Hospitals Week all this week. With the theme - "we do so much more" - the week focuses on the work done by Private Hospitals in Australia - ranging from eye surgery to mental health and much more. Private Hospitals perform 2 out of every 3 eye surgeries in Australia, with MetWest Surgical contributing to this data.
