21st May - PHW8MetWest Surgical staff, surgeons and patients today enjoyed a morning tea as the Private Hospital’s Week celebrations continued.  With over 70% of eye procedures performed in Australia being performed in Private Hospital’s MetWest Surgical provides a vital ophthalmic service to the people of western Sydney.

Some of the team took a quick break in proceedings to join the festivities this morning.

New Doctor at MetWest

Dr Matthew Ball joins the team of Ophthalmologists at MetWest Eye Centre next Monday the 12th of May.  Dr Ball will be consulting as a general ophthalmologist – seeing all eye conditions.  He will be at the centre fortnightly on a Monday.

Medication Alert

Following the TGA safety alert of anaesthesia drug Propofol, MetWest Surgical has taken the following action to ensure continued patient safety:

  • Propofol batch numbers have been checked – no Propofol vials at MetWest are part of the affected batches.
  • all Propofol has been removed from the facility
  • the centre anaesthetists have been advised of the recall and asked to alter their practises accordingly, whilst ensuring that patients continue to get the best possible anaesthetic throughout their eye surgery.
